What is
homoeopathy?
Homoeopathy relies for its effects on the
body's own powers of self-regulation and self healing. The
principle that governs homoeopathy is 'like cures
like'. A substance that will produce a particular
symptom in the body can be used in information or a minute dose to
cure the problem. The homoeopathic substance stimulates the body to
'throw off' the acute or chronic ailment and restore balance.
What are homoeopathic
medicines made from?
Homoeopathic medicines are made from a wide
range of substances derived from plants, animals, minerals, metals
and liquids. New medicines are being discovered and proved all the
time. It is estimated that there are at least 3,900 substances
currently available as homoeopathic medicines.
How does homoeopathy
work?
We like to describe homoeopathic medicines as
'information'. They gently stimulate not only the immune system,
but also the mental and emotional states that keep it healthy, into
keeping the disease at bay and preventing it from recurring. A
homoeopathic medicine is taken in the least possible dose for the
least possible time so if it is not exactly the right one it will
not do any harm.
A good way to imagine the way in which
homoeopathic medicine works is to think of the tablet as material
in which the medicine records its information. It is the same
principle as a CD, cassette tape or VCR tape. These are plastic
materials onto which electro-magnetic information is recorded, and
they only make sense when you put them into the right machine. If
you put them under a microscope the information will not be
visible. A homoeopathic medicine is the information of a particular
substance recorded in solution. This solution is then added to the
tablet, and your body is the instrument that reads the
information.
